Badgers

Great Britain has a high density of badgers, with over 30 per square kilometre in some areas. Living in groups of six to nine adults, badgers are nocturnal, social and territorial creatures. They are not considered to be a major pest but badgers do occasionally cause problems for man

What’s the solution?
Badgers and their setts are protected under the Protection of Badgers Act 1992, which means it is absolutely vital to seek expert help with your badger problem. It’s illegal to kill, injure or take badgers – or to interfere with their setts. However, there are ways manage badgers and badger problems and our experts can advise and carry out a combination of methods to manage and minimise damage caused by badger activity.

If you think you have a badger problem we provide free site surveys to help you manage your badger problem, providing recommendations and implementing a solution.

How badgers can affect your business

  • Damage to land and crops
  • Excavation of setts under roads and railways can cause a risk to vehicles
  • Badger activity can undermine buildings, gardens and fields
  • Foraging badgers can damage amenity areas, golf courses, pasture and lawns when they dig for worms and insect larvae

Agricultural land, construction, highways and amenities such as parks, golf courses, hotel grounds etc – can all be affected by the badgers' digging and foraging activity. Utility sites and flood defences have suffered soil erosion and the undermining of structures from the enthusiastic digging activity of the badger.
